Like the "dragonfly" that transcends  and transforms, so have we ... from the sad and scared parents to advocates of missing children and their families. We have found a mission, "The Molly Bish Foundation." So many have walked hand and hand with us on this journey. We could only have achieved this through your support and love. We "Thank You." The face of our daughter continues to guide us and give us courage! Together we can go forward in "Hope" to protect the children of New England for ... "If you save one life, you save the world."  -Magi Bish, Molly's mom.

The tragic story of Molly Bish’s disappearance is well known: Magi Bish drove her sixteen year old daughter to her life guard post at Comins Pond at 10:00 AM. When swimmers arrived minutes later, the only traces of Molly were her towel, lunch, water bottle and sandals stacked beneath her chair; a police radio and an open first aid kit were lying nearby. It soon became apparent that Molly was the victim of abduction by a predator. After three years, the extensive search for Molly came to a heartbreaking end; Molly’s remains were found on a remote wooded hillside just 5 miles from where she had been abducted and 2 1/2 miles from her home.

John and Magi Bish were determined that no other family should experience the nightmare of missing a child. Several months after Molly disappeared, they established the Molly Bish “Lifeguard” Foundation, an organization that is devoted to promoting child safety through education and prevention.  The cornerstone of the foundation is the distribution of complimentary child identification kits that contain a current head and shoulders photograph and a professionally made set of fingerprints that can be used to help locate a missing child. To date, the foundation has distributed ID kits to over 120,000 individuals throughout New England and the numbers continue to grow each day as foundation volunteers hold child safety days at local schools, day care centers and community sponsored events.

Recognizing the importance of outreach and education in promoting child safety, John and Magi Bish have spoken to hundreds of school and community groups, sharing Molly’s story throughout the US and abroad in discussing the importance of obtaining child identification kits for all children and young adults.

The Molly Bish Foundation has also inaugurated an annual observance of Missing Children’s Day in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Each year families of missing children gather at the Massachusetts State House to remember the children who are still missing and to honor those people who have worked on their behalf to enact legislations such as the Amber Alert , Child Protection Act or who have served on Search and Rescue Teams.

The goal of the foundation is to establish and provide safety awareness programs within our schools and community.  It will promote family safety with child ID programs that would include fingerprinting, photographs and the childs physical characteristics. The foundation would also assist in child abduction investigations by providing posters, flyers, buttons, Internet information and links.

The Bish family wishes to thank you for your generous donation and support.  Their objective is to give back to the community and our children the same compassion they have received over the past 3 years during their time of need.

Donations to the Molly Bish Foundation can be made at any Spencer Savings Bank.
