Light the Way Home for Missing Children

This year the Molly Bish Foundation will be sponsoring the “Light the Way Home for Missing Children” project on Wednesday May 26, 2004, which is National Missing Children’s Day. We are asking everyone to please leave an outside light shining in the front of their home for the entire day and night on Wednesday, May 26, 2004. In addition, motorists are asked to leave their headlights on while driving on May 26, 2004. By participating in this project you are demonstrating support for the families of missing children and indicating that you recognize the significant problem of missing and abducted children in this country. It is our hope that by shining these lights on our homes and on our roadways, we will help to “light the way home” for the missing children of our nation.

Gov. Jane M. Swift Named a New Task Force on Sexual Assault and Abuse

Massachusetts State House
Boston, Massachusetts

April 30, 2002

Prominent seats were given to Robert Curley, father of murdered Cambridge boy Jeffrey Curley, and Magi Bish, mother of missing Warren lifeguard Molly Bish.

"It is our hope that no other family will have to endure this fear and this immense sadness.'' Magi Bish

"I'm really looking forward to this opportunity and carrying on my Jeffrey's fight,'' Robert Curley

"It is a dream . . . of a Massachusetts in which children know it's not only wrong to be touched inappropriately, but are empowered to speak up. This is not an impossible dream.'' Judy Beals, Jane Doe Inc.

"Sexual violence against the citizens of the Commonwealth will not be tolerated.'' Gov. Jane M. Swift

The new task force will offer a "blueprint'' for dealing with the devastation of sex abuse, and to bring an issue that has been long hidden into "a clear view'' showing the extent of the problem.

The 25-member task force, to be headed by Public Safety Secretary James Jajuga, is charged with reviewing all existing counseling and other state supports for sex abuse victims.

The panel is due to submit recommendations by September for improving and integrating such services.

John and Magi Bish Invited to Join Team H.O.P.E.

National Center for Missing and Exploited Children

Alexandria, Virginia

March 14-16, 2002

John and Magi Bish were selected to participate in an intensive training program sponsored by Team H.O.P.E. that was held at the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Alexandria, Virginia from March 14-16, 2002.

Patty Wetterling, whose eleven-year-old son Jacob was abducted by a masked gunman on October 22, 1989, helped to establish Team H.O.P.E. as a national support group for families of missing children. Based on the premise that families of missing children know the unique feelings and struggles of other families who have been thrust into a parent's worst nightmare, Team H.O.P.E. is a vehicle for those families to help others.

Volunteers are selected to participate in intensive training designed to increase awareness of the issues surrounding families of missing and exploited children, including victims of familial and non-familial abduction, international abduction, endangered runaways and missing adults. The training also includes workshops designed to enhance helping skills.

As members of Team H.O.P.E. John and Magi Bish will be able to expand the services provided by the Molly Bish Foundation to include providing support to other families of missing and exploited children.

- JANUARY 1, 2002 -

Sending our love, our hope and wishes to all of you this New Year...

That all children are safe in the New Year, remember as you love your country, you need to make it a safe and a healthy place for all children to grow.

Love and hug your children and value every moment together, for they will soon be your memories.

Tell your family and friends how valuable they are and how much you need their support, strength and laughter, for they are the mirror of all you are and can be.

Revel in the beauty, the mystery and wonder of a twinkling star, a dragonflies delight, the blue of the sky, the warmth of the sun, the rainbow's majesty, the oceans song ... and the amazing goodness of the human spirit.

Together if we look through the eyes of a child in wonder and awe, we will appreciate the many gifts...

And in a thoughtful whisper ... thank God.

And we will experience faith, hope and love!

Molly's 18th Birthday   August 2, 2001

A mothers poem to her missing daughter:

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOLLY

As I light your 18th birthday candle,
I see your face, within the candlelight.

I look closer and I see, your corn blue eyes,
blue as a summers twinkling sky.

I look and see, your hair golden, gently flowing.
Like the yellow ribbons that billow in the summer's breeze.

I look and I see, your "Tigger" spirit abound.
And our hands touch across time and space.

I look and see, memories...
A baby girl held be her big and loving sister.

I look and I see, a soccer ball fly,
between the trees and her brother scores.

I look and I see, a "daddy's girl" upon his lap,
And you plead for one more trip to the mall.

I look and I see, me with arms outstretched,
To the daughter, I miss.

I look and see, that you are such a part of me.
I ache as if my limbs have been severed. I am not whole.

I look and I see, the birthday candles glow,
I whisper that special wish...

That you come home to us,
Who love you so...But if you can't,

I look and I see, you in the hands of God
With angel’s wings wrapped with light,
And our love and strength hold you tight.

I look and see,
And hope my tears will set you free.

HAPPY 18th BIRTHDAY, MOLLY
